Very enjoyable - children did not want to leave and they are not easy (to please). Christmas 2007.

Had another great time here (fourth). Cottage and welcome still as nice. Hope to be back again.

The best cottage we have ever had and, by far, the best equipped kitchen.
Plenty of room for dogs too.

This Christmas we were looking for a sanctuary - the perfect relaxing hideaway. We found it here.

The First Blog of Spring  - posted 26th May 2008

Well this is my first ever blog... my blog bubble is officially popped and all you out there who read it will find out what life is like living on a farm in West Wales, looking after the animals and the holiday makers.

Everyone who comes to Glascoed loves its situation – the views are wonderful, it’s peaceful and plumb centre for getting to everywhere in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. And, here is VERY GREEN – you can see the grass growing and we always bet on when the surrounding farmers will take their first silage cut. This year, it was the second week in May which was probably bit too early for the buzzards and red kites to take advantage of the resulting carrion for their young.

Spring is lovely. .....the farm driveway starts the spring in a blur of yellow created by the daffodils and the primroses. Later the purples arrive – red campion, early purple orchid and foxgloves. Right now the ferns are having their say, stretching their beautiful feathery fronds out from the banks bordering the driveway before the bracken wins the argument in the summer.

The holiday cottages are busy all year. We have had a number of artists stay and paint their impression of the gardens and the driveway. Apparently the light is very good.

The visitors book is getting pretty full – lots of compliments. It’s starting to feel like we have a history now; the cottages were renovated back in 2002 and we have rented out the Old Farmhouse and its adjoining Coach House since then.  The Old Farmhouse has some of our antique furniture from our previous house and sleeping in the old oak four-poster bed has become a real point of argument between the children who visit. No such discussions in the Coach House – the four-poster is huge so two people can argue quite happily while in it!

Anyone who comes to stay in the next few weeks can take their pick from all sorts of events, check out:

The bluebells will be beautiful on Skomer Island (http://www.welshwildlife.org/skomerIntro_en.link) for a few days yet and the puffins will be starting to feed their young. It’s a magical place this time of year – the puffins are so focussed on their underground brood that they ignore the gob-smacked visitors as they waddle purposely passed.

Back on the farm ..... the latest guests have arrived for the Bank Holiday week. Our very friendly dogs, Lucy, Minnie, Jess and Megan greeted them warmly.
